Void Projects presents Homeless, a residency and exhibition hosting local, national and international artists, at the home of Axel Void followed by Souvenir as part of the Juxtapoz Clubhouse during Miami’s Art Basel.
Homeless will take place in the home of project curator Axel Void in Miami, United States. The space is a 1920’s house situated in North Miami just outside of the wall that divides Miami Shores; an upper-class neighborhood from a more working-class area without a name.
The concept considers the idea of home in a political, social or personal context. Addressing ideas from the perspective of cultural heritage, identity and patriotism, the project is pertinent to a broader sense of commonality as well as a more introspective view of shelter and community.
Void Projects is also proud to collaborate this year with Juxtapoz for their annual Clubhouse event. As an extension of the concept explored for Homeless, Void Projects Present Souvenir, a reflection of memory as momento vs the physical objects and slogans perpetuated by Miamis iconic tourist scene. From the frivolous through to the charming more quotidian moments of everyday life, Artists reflect on their experiences of time spent in Miami through a series of original works and on site installations.
Homeless follows Void Projects Creença which launched this summer, hosting over fifty multidisciplinary artists in Catalonia, Spain. The residency took place in an old Convent from the 19th Century. Homeless is curated by Axel Void and coordinated by Charlotte Pyatt
